Jiyoung Kim, a South Korean pianist, has won numerous international
competitions, including the Maj Lind, Jacob Flier, and Young
Tchaikovsky competitions.
She has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall,
Gewandhaus Leipzig, and Konzerthaus Berlin, and collaborated with
renowned orchestras worldwide.
Her 2024 recording of Scriabin and Ravel was released under a
cultural foundation.
Kim holds degrees from Seoul National University and the University
of Music and Theatre Munich.
Currently, she is pursuing a Meisterklasse in Leipzig and a Master
of New Music in Munich, supported by multiple scholarships for the
2024/25 season.
Jiyoung Kim, a pianist from South Korea, began learning piano at the
age of four.
Kim has garnered numerous prizes in top international competitions.
Notable achievements include the 3rd Prize at the Maj Lind
International Piano Competition, as well as prizes at the Jacob
Flier International Piano Competition, Munich Steinway Competition,
Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Hochschulwettbewerb, Tallinn
International Piano Competition,
Bösendorfer USASU International Piano Competition, Shigeru Kawai
International Piano Competition, and International Tchaikovsky
Competition for Young Musicians.
She also received the Pnina Salzman Award at the Tel-Hai
International Piano Masterclass.
In addition to her solo debut recital at Carnegie Hall, she has
performed at renowned venues such as Gewandhaus Leipzig, Konzerthaus
Berlin, Estonia Concert Hall, and Seoul Arts Center, as well as
giving recitals across Korea, Norway, Germany, Russia, and Israel.
Kim was designated as a Gyeonggi Young Artist and presented concerts
as an artist in residence.
She made her orchestral debut in Seoul at the age of nine and has
since performed with numerous orchestras, including Konzerthaus
Berlin, Estonia National Symphony Orchestra,
Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, State Symphony Orchestra of the
Russian Federationv "Novaya Russia," Musikalische Komödie Leipzig,
Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra, Gunpo Prime Philharmonic Orchestra,
and Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra.
In 2024, her recording of Scriabin's 12 Etudes Op. 8 and Ravel's
Miroirs was released under
the auspices of Internationale Stiftung zur Förderung von Kultur und
Zivilisation.
Kim graduated from Yewon School and Seoul Arts School, where she
studied with Hyerim Kim.
She continued her musical studies at Seoul National University and
received a Bachelor of Music with the highest distinction under the
guidance of Prof. Aviram Reichert.
After moving to Germany in 2019, Kim received a Master’s degree and
Zertifikat Meisterklasse with the highest distinction from the
University of Music and Theatre Munich.
Currently, she is pursuing a Meisterklasse at the University of
Music and Theatre »Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy« Leipzig under the
guidance of Prof. Gerald Fauth.
Additionally, she is studying for a Master of New Music at the
University of Music and Theatre Munich under the guidance of Prof.
Antti Siirala.
Kim has been selected as a scholarship recipient by the
Elfrun-Gabriel Foundation for the 2024/25 season, with multiple solo
recitals planned. In addition, she has been awarded the Sächsische
Landesstipendium for the 2024/25 academic year.
